This sister cafe to Davis Square's Diesel opened Oct. 2007 to rave reviews. Named after its street address, 11 Bow. St., this hipster hotspot in the heart of Somerville's Union Square is housed in an 87-year-old bank building. However, there's nothing stodgy about Bloc 11. Similar amenities to Diesel Cafe including stellar vegan delicacies, wi-fi access and tempting eye candy and, of course, some of the best java Somerville has to offer.

The best breakfast in Boston is not in a fancy hotel but at this local favorite in Union Sq. Pastel umbrellas sprout from each picnic table in the grape arbor outside, where a multiethnic crowd flocks each weekend for great food at incredible prices. Brunch here has a Portuguese flavor, with popular dishes like linguiça sausage omelettes ($9) and sweet bread French toast ($7). Best of all, every entree comes with fresh-squeezed OJ, baked goods, luscious hot cereal or fruit, and unlimited coffee—more than plenty to fill you up ‘til dinner and easily large enough for two.
