Dubbed "one of the hippest places to live" in 1997, Davis Square lives up to its reputation. Standing in the center of Elm Street, Holland Street, Dover Street, Day Street, Elm Street, Highland Avenue, and College Avenue, Davis Square is vibrant with the colors of business signs, the brown and blue of Tufts University students, and the falling leaves in autumn along the Somerville Community Path.
You are sure to hear sounds of political protesters or local musicians performing in the square on any given night during the spring and summer. Cool off with some ice cream at the ever-popular, JP Licks and then head to a show at jazz/rock club and bar, Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant.
If it's food you're interested in, I hope you're hungry! Davis Square boasts a variety of cuisine from BBQ at Red Bones to Indian food at Diva.
While Elm Street is the main drag, there's a whole new crop of funky shops opening up on Highland including Davis Squared and Kickass Cupcakes. Holland Street is lined with small fashion boutiques where you can shop for your local outdoorsman at Chinook or your favorite trendsetter at Black and Blues.
Davis Square is extremely easy to get to as it has its own T-stop on the Red Line.
Every year, on the third weekend of July, Davis Square turns into one of the largest and most unique art festivals. Each year has a theme that serves as a creative motivation for the artist and the community. Go to ArtBeat for this years dates and listing of artists and events. This year the event is taking place July 18-19th and the theme is GREEN.

Graffiti is a place for quick notes. Know the hours of a business but not sure where to put it? Did something just happen at this place? Leave some graffiti.
