Help:Etiquette

General Etiquette

  • Treat others with the same courtesy and respect you expect for yourself.
  • Povo is a public place that welcomes the whole community. Don’t use language or images you wouldn’t be comfortable sharing with everyone.
  • Be civil and encourage civility in others.
  • Be original. But if you must borrow, remember, only resources that are public not protected by copyright law can be copied without permission.
  • Correcting typos is encouraged.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of Povo’s content.
  • Don’t insert advertising or commercial content or personal information.

Editing Etiquette

  • Edit wisely and constructively. Try to avoid gratuitous, judgemental, accusatory, or rude edits.
  • Take content discussion to the “Talk” pages.
  • Don’t “lurk” or be “anonymous”. Register and take ownership of your edits and comments.
  • Povo aggregates collective opinions, therefore, much of the information you add will be edited. It’s great to take an interest in the progress of content, but avoid becoming too possessive.
  • To avoid edit wars, we request that everyone please observe the three-revert rule: do not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, on a single page within a 24 hour period. A revert means undoing the actions of another contributor, whether involving the same or different material each time.
