Loving home away from home for your child We have a ton of books (board and otherwise) from all genres, puzzles, dress up, trucks, baby toys, a rocking horse, quality art supplies (all non-toxic, of course), room to run (or crawl) around at will, and most importantly--a loving home away from home! I've cared for many children over the years, both before and after my daughter was born. I volunteer in the Cambridge Unitarian Universalist church's children's program. I would be happy to supply references. I will work with your child, as much as I can in the time we'll have together--on practical skills (self care, care of the environment, food prep) math readiness, (spatial relationships, sequencing and concrete concept of quantity) reading readiness, (language skills, elements of a story, left to right, fine motor skills, attention span for reading) social graces, (manners, sharing a meal, having a conversation...) and science (encouraging curiosity, experiments, plant care, cooking).

My philosophy: Holding babies as often as possible and responding to every cry as an attempt to communicate.  I don't believe in using electronics or television as a babysitter.  I use many Montessori ideas and materials for understanding and developing the whole child.  I've have studied much about child care and welcome further discussion on the theories and practice of daycare.
